Kate began training with me in June after I ran into her a few times at the gym and I corrected her form on a couple of machines and told her to she might want to stop doing 40 reps of everything. ;)
She is truly one of my favorite clients because she always makes my day brighter after spending an hour with her. She is a gifted kindergarten teacher and fantastic mother and wife. To know her is to love her. She understands the importance of balance and as such still enjoys good food and cocktails with friends. I see Kate two times per week in my studio and she has done a great job of incorporating what she has learned into the workouts she does on her own the other 1-2 days per week. She has learned to activate muscles she didn't know she had. Two days ago I ran into a mutual friend at the pharmacy and she pointed out that not only does Kate look great but her personality has evolved for the better since she started her journey. We both agreed…she truly shines from the inside out now...how lucky for those of us around her!
I asked Kate a few questions about her fitness transformation to hopefully inspire others who might be at the same place she was a year ago...
Weight lost and sizes dropped?
I have lost 23 pounds and have gone from a size 12/14 to a 6/8
When did you start your journey?
The nutrition portion in January, the fitness portion in June.
What has been the hardest part of the process?
In the beginning, reminding myself that I am worth the investment of time and money. But, my family, my students and I all deserve the best me possible. Now that the investment has paid off, I'm so glad I did it!
Favorite exercise?
Anything on TRX (note: this makes me laugh because she HATED TRX when we first started and trust me Kate doesn’t sugar coat things)
Exercise like the least?
Squats!
Besides size/weight what is biggest difference you have noticed?
I feel energetic, in control and strong. I don't wake up every Monday with that desperate feeling of needing to start yet another diet. I have hope.
What has surprised you the most through the process?
What my body is capable of doing! I am 49 years old and I am in the best shape of my life!
How do you feel after you workout?
Energized! Excited! I want to do things and not flop on the couch.
What would you say to someone considering personal training but maybe concerned about costs, finding the time, and whether it will be worth it?
Making in investment in your health and well-being now, will save you money later. You and your family deserve a happy healthy you! I have saved money on this journey because I no longer buy "things" to make me feel good.
You initially lost weight using Isagenix and feel passionately about it so why need a personal trainer?
I needed to get my nutrition under control to have the energy and confidence to work out. I was not fueling my body correctly with other plans. I also had to accept the truth that weight loss is 80% nutrition and 2O% excercise.
With Isagenix I was getting the best, plant based protein and began losing pounds and inches. I was getting slim and feeling energetic so then I was ready to start a true fitness program. When I started working out with you, lean muscle started developing and my strength and stamina improved dramatically. Since working out with you, I have not lost any more weight on the scale but still dropped a whole Jean size!
Anything else you want to say?
I had resigned myself to being a middle aged, overweight woman until I discovered what was possible with the right nutrition and trainer. Now there is no turning back! This is my new lifestyle and I'm loving it! I encourage all women to make this investment in themselves!
